On the men’s side, Anderson Brown, Calder Murray, Orin Song, and Yusuf Matti-Alvarez had a strong start, picking up solid wins over Mexico (2 - 1) and Brazil (3 - 0) during the round robin stage. In the semis’, the team came up short against a tough Colombian squad (0 - 2), earning a bronze medal. "Our team had a great time in Chile. We really came together during the team event, beating Mexico 2-1 to make the semifinals and earn a medal for team Canada!" said Calder Murray. There were also some great individual results, with Lee reaching the Top 8 in the Women’s Singles Main Draw, and Murray and Matti-Alvarez both having a great run in the Men’s Singles Main Draw, beating their seedings of [9/12] to place [5/8]. Additionally, Tejani and Chong made it to the semifinals of the Women’s Singles Companion Event, both finishing [3/4]. Behind the scenes, the team was guided by two experienced coaches, Giselle Delgado, and Andrew Lynn. Their leadership and support made a meaningful impact both on and off the court. “What an amazing week we had in Santiago! Against extremely tough competition, our young team exceeded expectations, with many finishing ahead of their seeding in the individual as well as in the team competitions,” said Delgado and Lynn. “Canada can be proud of our incredible athletes, who played hard while also displaying great sportsmanship. We return to Canada with medals, but more importantly, great memories and new friends.” Squash Canada congratulates all the athletes and coaches for their performances and for proudly representing the Maple Leaf on the international stage.
